Job Description:  Area Manager, Texas & Lousisiana

Department:        Sales

Report To:           Regional Managers 

 

Summary                              

You are accountable for the development and implementation of regional sales strategies, supporting distributors; prioritizing and launching new products, and all aspects of sales and technical support, education and marketing development in the territory.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Appoint new customers and maintain customer relationships with senior management, marketing managers, sales reps, agronomists and growers as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and support customers to provide proper solutions to answer customer needs.
  • Determine the product value proposition on the crops in the territory
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations to support sales, marketing, and research relationships.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to identify opportunities, manage and support trial efforts in the geography.
  • Conduct field demos and trials as needed to create products awareness with customers.
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities and attend relevant tradeshows.
  • Administrative tasks such as (not limited to), monthly forecasts, regional warehouse management, collaboration on collections.
  • Remain current on market trends in agriculture.
  • Travel with 25% overnighting will be required.

 

Skills and Attributes

  • Must be a self-starter and able to initiate and sustain high level of independent activity.
  • Ethical and maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Organized with strong time management and prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and must be able to read, write and communicate in the English Language
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, TEAMS and related software
  • Knowledge of general office and corporate procedures
  • Proven ability to solve and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and test innovative approaches to new product and application.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Agronomic, Agricultural, Horticultural, Plant/Crop Protection Science, Soil Science or related area.  5 Years experience in related sales environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of both nutrition and pest control on the relevant crops in the territory
  • Deep technical competency in agronomic systems, practices, applications, and the supporting technologies behind them.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform work sitting at a desk for prolonged period of time.
  • Ability to lift/move objects up to 40 lbs.
  • Continuous use of standard office equipment and materials including computer, mouse, keyboards, and phones
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
